Kyran Reese is a man in control. Driven when it comes to work, focused when it comes to play. From his office to the chalk circle of the bare-knuckle boxing ring, his only thought is to win. That thirst heightens when Dale Porter enters his life. His brother’s assistant should be off limits, but her witty comments and sarcastic comebacks have him desperate to get her between the sheets.

When Dale agrees to Kyran’s relationship stipulation of no labels she’s sucked into a whirlwind of lust, money, and underground boxing. Dale fights her growing affection, trying to hide it when the world around them spirals out of control. All too soon she realizes she can’t hide her true feelings any longer.

Interview

1. Tell us about your book? What makes it hot/ different?

Beneath the Surface is a novel that reflects on how your past can define, and sometimes ruin your future. The main character, Kyran Reese, has so many issues festering underneath his controlled exterior. The same can be said for the female lead, Dale Porter. Both of them have their reasons to keep the relationship casual, however they can’t fight fate.

I hope the layers each character has gives the book something more. I always try to keep my plots realistic. Even if one of the characters is far richer then I could ever dream of.

2. What’s your writing ritual? Are you the type of author that sets up the mood to write, or do you just go with the flow and write whenever the inspiration hits you?

I pretty much write whenever I can. I have three boys and a day job, so slotting in the time can be tough. Normally the time after the boys go to bed is reserved for running or writing.

I carry my notebook and pen everywhere with me, and have been known to jot down a word or two while sitting at my day job desk.

3. What, in your opinion, was the sexiest part of your book? Why?

The scenes with Kyran at Metro. I loved writing the boxing scenes—loved researching them too. There is nothing sexier than a man topless, sweating, his muscles bulging with aggression…and maybe a little bit of blood on his face.

I wrote quite a few fight scenes as I enjoyed them far too much.

4. What can we expect from you in the future?

Well, there are another two books in the Reluctance Series. I’ve just finished writing the second book, which is Taylor’s and Trace’s story will be the third.

I’m also part way through a novel, so there are plenty more stories to come from me.

5. What scares you the most about putting your work out there?

I’m not a very confident person, so for me the scary part is just putting my words out into the world. I ask myself the same questions every time I release a book. What if everyone hates it?

When I first started writing I thought the nerves would lessen as I released more books, but that hasn’t been the case. The self-doubt is always there and sometimes I just want to hide.  It’s never as bad as I think it will be though.

6. Alpha male or sensitive male?

I like both. My first novel, Unwritten Rules, had a very sensitive hero and people responded to him really well. However, I love writing an Alpha male who can be sensitive when needed and yet hot and forceful too.

7. Random thought moment! Give me the first one that pops into your head after this.

That I need to do my weights workout before lunch. LOL!

8. Any advice you’d give new or aspiring writers that are just starting out?

Just to write. There are so many ‘rules’ that other authors will tell you about, and yet books break those rules every day. So I’d tell them to stay true to their story and write it exactly how they want it. It will find its own market.

I’d also say not every book can be a ‘bestseller’ so be happy with small victories. I’m happy with every single sale I make.

9. Sexiest actor in Hollywood. In your opinion, of course :p

Charlie Hunnam, without a doubt. Love that man…I could stare at him all day, and he’s a fellow Brit too. Hugh Jackman comes a close second though.

10. And what would you do with said actor if given the chance? Oh, come on! This is a site that specializes in hot romance. Give your would-be fans a taste of what’s in store for them LOL

Honestly, I’d blush and hide. But… in my head there would certainly be wall sex. Aggressive, raw, wall sex. Yeah.  With teeth…and tongues and my nails digging into his arse. (disappears to have a moment to myself).
